Our Messianic Life

A religious blog from a Messianic Jewish perspective by Erik Mattson

About The Blog

The Mission

The mission of this blog is to inform people about Messianic Judaism and to encourage Messianic believers. This will be done by studying and discussing topics concerning Messianic faith and the Messianic movement. I have a firm belief that growth comes from research and dialogue so my hope and prayer is that by talking about the important topics, the Messianic movement will continue to grow. That being said, I would like for others to contribute to this blog. By no means am I an expert on everything Messianic, so if you would like to write your own well-researched and well-written article to add to my thoughts, or to challenge them, then please subscribe (I would really appreciate if everyone does this!) and fill out the contact form at the bottom of the page to ask how to write your own article. I would like for other’s thoughts and opinions to be heard so the blog lives up to its name. Welcome to Our Messianic Life.

About the Blogger

Erik Mattson

I am a fourth year History major at Kennesaw State University near Atlanta, Georgia. I was born and raised in the Messianic movement and have been actively involved in the movement for the last 4 years. I was on Leadership Team for the YMJA Messiah Conference for 2 years and recently completed an apologetics internship at Chosen People Ministries. I love learning theology, doing apologetics, and struggling through tough questions with others. I am the Vice President of the Ratio Christi (a Christian apologetics organization) chapter at my university and routinely have great conversations with those who disagree with me. I also love reading about productivity, watching sports, and browsing for sneaker deals.

One of the core values at Our Messianic Life is for more than one voice to be heard. There are many creative and insightful individuals in the Messianic movement that have many helpful perspectives to listen to and to read. Not all the voices in the Messianic movement...

Pastor Stanley,

I am a Jewish believer in Jesus who attends Kennesaw State University, about 50 minutes away from your North Point Alpharetta Campus. I recently watched your Aftermath Sermon Series and I have come away with many questions. The answers to which have sign...

I have lost count of how many times people have pointed to Peter’s vision of the animals on the sheet in Acts 10 and say, “See! You do not need to keep kosher anymore!” It still shocks me every time. The use of Peter’s vision as a proof text for kosher law being discon...

As promised, here is Jonathan Mann's

synopsis of the paper he presented at the Phi Alpha Theta Conference in the same panel as myself. He is the President of Ratio Christi, the apologetics club we run at Kennesaw State University. He has grown up his entire life in the...

Late last year, my homie Jonathan Mann and I submitted papers to the Phi Alpha Theta Biennial Conference in New Orleans, a history honor society national conference. Both of our papers were accepted for presentation and we both received grants from Kennesaw State to fu...

At the Greenwich, England harbor, still sitting on top of the Royal Observatory, is one of the first “time-balls.” Every afternoon since 1833, at 1:00pm, the time-ball has dropped down the 15-foot pole (shown in the video below) [1]. As soon as sailors saw the ball dro...
